bibs comes from a real Monday night game and a team called Oldman Non-Athletic. Yes, really.
Every weekly game has a gaffer. The one who books the pitch, counts the yeses, chases the maybes, and then does the job nobody thanks them for: picking the teams.
bibs was built by the gaffer of Oldman Non-Athletic, a Monday night side that has seen more one-sided first halves than anyone would like to admit. Every week the same routine: stare at the list of names, shuffle them around, convince yourself it is fair, and then watch one team go four up in ten minutes while the group chat sharpens its knives.
The fix was never going to be another giant football app that makes everyone sign up, pay a match fee and get rated in public. The fix was a tool that does the gaffer's hardest job properly and stays out of the way: rate your squad once, privately, and let bibs split whoever turns up into two sides that can actually match each other.
It has been picking Oldman Non-Athletic's teams ever since. The games got closer. The arguments got quieter. The ankles, sadly, are beyond software.
