The case for balanced teams
WHY BIBS
Every weekly game lives or dies on one thing: whether the teams are fair. bibs exists to get that one thing right, every single week.
CLOSE GAMES KEEP GROUPS ALIVE
Think about the games people still talk about. They were not the 11-2 thrashings. They were the ones that finished level with five minutes left and everyone suddenly sprinting like it was a cup final.
Lopsided teams do quiet damage. The losing side stops trying, the winning side stops passing, and the player who got picked last starts finding reasons they cannot make Mondays. Fair sides fix all of it, and picking fair sides is exactly the job nobody wants to do by hand.
WHAT MAKES BIBS DIFFERENT
RATINGS STAY PRIVATE
You rate your squad honestly because nobody else will ever see it. No public stats, no shame awards, no leaderboard politics. It is a hard rule built into bibs, not a setting.
BALANCED, NOT RANDOM
bibs weighs up pace, shooting, defending and goalkeeping across everyone who is in, then builds two sides that can genuinely match each other, with a balance score to prove it. Current form is baked in too.
FAIR FROM DAY ONE
No waiting weeks for match data. Your first matchday is as balanced as your fiftieth, because it works from what you already know about your players.
NOTHING TO DOWNLOAD
bibs runs in the browser. Players get the teamsheet in the group chat, and anyone who fancies it can follow the tables with an invite link. Only the gaffer needs an account.
A SEASON THAT BUILDS
Log who won after each game and the win percentage table and form guide grow all season. Every result also quietly tunes the balance, so teams keep up with who's hot and who's not. Players can check where they stand any time.
FREE. ACTUALLY FREE
No per-match fees, no subscriptions, no locked features, no card details. Free for the gaffer and free for every player.
BETTER THAN A RANDOM TEAM GENERATOR
A random team generator feels fair because it has no favourites. But shuffling names does not balance a game: random happily puts your four best players on one side and calls it a day. You have seen that game. It was 9-1.
bibs is deterministic, not random. It looks at the actual ability across everyone playing tonight and splits it as evenly as it can, then shows you a balance score so you can trust the sides before a ball is kicked. Same players in, same fair teams out. Nothing left to luck.
It also knows football is played on form. Behind the scenes, every win nudges a player's hidden rating up by 0.1 and every loss nudges it down by 0.1, up to plus or minus 1.0. The player who has won five on the spin weighs a little heavier in the balance, and the one on a losing run gets a little slack, all without you or anyone else lifting a finger.
