If you run a regular kickabout through Teamer, you have probably had the email. Teamer is closing on 5 October 2026. Its owner is putting its weight behind other products, and the casual-football side of things did not make the cut. From that date the app stops, and the part that stings is that there is no proper export tool, so your members and history do not simply move across to something new.
It is annoying, but it is also a clean moment to set your game up better than it was. This guide covers what actually happens, what to save before the lights go out, and how to be back up and running, with fairer teams than Teamer ever gave you, in about five minutes.
What is actually happening
- Teamer closes on 5 October 2026. After that the app and website stop working.
- There is no one-click export. Your events and payment history are not portable.
- New sign-ups, new teams and new app downloads are already being switched off.
- Premium subscriptions are being cancelled so you are not charged into October.
Save this before 5 October
Whatever you move to next, grab your people first. Open your Members page in a web browser while you still can and copy out the details you will want again:
- Player names, and the mobile numbers or emails you use to reach them.
- Your regular slot: pitch, day and kick-off time.
- Any money owed or held, so nothing goes missing in the handover.
A quick note in your phone or a spreadsheet is plenty. You will not need to import any of it into bibs, but you will want it if you are also replacing the payments and reminders side elsewhere.
What to replace Teamer with
Be honest with yourself about what you used Teamer for, because no single app is the perfect swap for all of it.
If it was mostly club admin, collecting subs, sending reminders, taking RSVPs across lots of teams, then a club tool is your like-for-like. If it was your weekly 5, 6 or 7-a-side, the thing you actually cared about was getting everyone there and picking teams that are not a walkover. That second one is exactly what bibs is for.
Why bibs is the easy switch for a weekly game
bibs is a free football team balancer. You build your squad once, rate each player privately, and it generates two properly matched sides with a balance score, then drops the teamsheet straight into your group chat. No history to import, which is a real advantage this week, because there is nothing to export from Teamer anyway.
- Fair from day one. bibs balances from what you already know about your players, so your first game is as even as your fiftieth. It does not need weeks of data first.
- Nothing for players to download. Only you touch bibs. Everyone else just gets the teamsheet in the chat like any photo, so you are not herding 15 people onto a new app the week Teamer dies.
- Private ratings. How you rate people stays between you and the app. No public stats, no egos bruised.
- Actually free. No subscription, no per-match fee, no card details. The thing Teamer Premium charged for, bibs gives away.
What bibs is not is a full club back office. If you need to collect match fees automatically or run several age-group teams, pair bibs with a dedicated admin or payments tool and let bibs do the teams. For most weekly groups, a group chat plus bibs covers the whole job.
Get your game running again in five minutes
- Open bibs in your browser and add your players from the list you saved.
- Give each one a quick private rating. Gut feel is fine, it tunes itself as results come in.
- Mark who is in this week and tap generate. You will see two balanced sides and a balance score.
- Share the teamsheet to the group chat. Done.
You can even see your first set of teams before you make an account, so there is no risk in trying it before Saturday.
Losing Teamer is a pain. But if the part you will miss is turning up to a fair game every week, that part just got simpler and free. For more on how the balancing works, see why gaffers use bibs, or read the bibs vs Spond comparison if you are weighing up the admin side too.
